Patrick Morrisey is the Governor-elect of West Virginia, poised to lead the Mountain State into a new era. Before his election as Governor, Morrisey served as West Virginia’s Attorney General since 2013, becoming the first Republican to hold the office since 1933. During his tenure, he achieved significant victories for West Virginia and gained national recognition as a staunch opponent of federal overreach.

Morrisey was instrumental in securing a landmark victory against the administrative state in West Virginia v. EPA, a case that not only safeguarded energy jobs in West Virginia but also set a precedent for limiting federal agencies’ regulatory powers without explicit congressional authorization. He championed constitutional carry rights for West Virginians, led the successful defense of the state’s comprehensive school choice laws, and established the first-ever Disability Fraud Unit in the state, overcoming bipartisan resistance. As West Virginia’s first pro-life Attorney General, Morrisey steadfastly defended the state’s pro-life legislation in court.

A graduate of Rutgers College and Rutgers School of Law, Morrisey’s distinguished career includes serving as a Partner and Practice Chair at a prominent national law firm, Chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association, Chief Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee, and owner of a private law practice. Before entering politics, he even served as a professional tennis umpire.

Morrisey moved to Harpers Ferry in 2006 with his wife, Denise, and their daughter, Julia. After years of visiting the state and admiring its natural beauty, he decided to make it his permanent home, dedicating himself to serving its people and preserving its heritage.
